William Alstot married Elizabeth Benson on April 2,1818, in Rockingham County, Virginia. Four known children were born to this family. Edward Tiffen Alstot, second son of William and Elizabeth, married Lucy Meyerhoeffer in 1843, in Rockingham County, Virginia. Their first four children were born in Crosskeys, Virginia. In 1857 the family moved to Louisa County, IA, and two more children were added.
