The inclement weather on Saturday didn't deter the 95 attendees, who found gabbing and the washer tourney tops on the agenda
Reunion festivities started on Friday, July 3, with a golf match set up by Lefty Altstadt. Later, on Friday night, the group met at Turoni's Pizzery and Brewery for our first get together. Saturday found us under heavy rain for most of the day, so the washer tournament had to be moved under the fairgrounds awning attached to the building entrance. Jim, Katie, Diane and Wayne Altstadt, along with help from their families, did a great job in providing home made German potato salad, barbeque and all the trimmings on Saturday, and a fried chicken feast on Sunday. Fireworks were provided by the city of Evansville on boats moored in the Ohio River on Saturday night after all the rain was finished. On Sunday, Father Damian Dietlein led a mass for the attending families.

The descendants Heinrich Altstadt provided a great 5th National Allstadt/Altstadt/Altstatt Clans Reunion at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Evansville, Indiana, on the July 4th weekend. Six immigrant clans were in attendance and this reunion included our first German Altstadt family…Hermann, Gundi and Matthias Altstadt of Erlangen, Germany.
